CVPOA endorses City Council candidates Larry Breitfelder & Mary Salas

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 6, 2012

The Chula Vista Police Officers’ Association (CVPOA) members are pleased to announce their endorsements for the Chula Vista City Council. Larry Breitfelder (Seat # 3) and Mary Salas (Seat # 4) were chosen by the CVPOA, which represents more than 210 sworn officers in the City of Chula Vista.

The CVPOA decided on Breitfelder and Salas because both candidates are strong supporters of law enforcement and making the community a safe place to live. They both are life-long residents of Chula Vista and have made service to their community a top priority.

Larry Breitfelder is a former elected Board Member of the Otay Water Board and is currently the President of the Chula Vista Taxpayers Association. Breitfelder pledged to never to raise taxes, ignore neighborhoods or lay off needed police officers. He believes we must come together and work as a team to improve the local economy in order to have the jobs and income needed to improve the city’s neighborhoods.

Mary Salas has previously served as a Chula Vista City Councilwoman (1996 - 2004) and State Assemblywoman (79th State Assembly, 2006 – 2010). Salas has made safe neighborhoods and increasing public safety resources a top priority. The CVPOA believes her political maturity will bring some much needed stability and clear direction to the Chula Vista City Council.

“The Board of Directors and the membership at large believe that Larry and Mary both represent the values and mission of the association and will proudly and with the utmost dedication serve the citizens of Chula Vista,” said CVPOA Director Michael Stewart.
